Age is a risk factor for both cataracts and glaucoma, so it’s common for patients to have both conditions.

Cataract surgery can often be combined with glaucoma procedures. Newer, minimally-invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) can frequently be performed through the same incision used for cataract removal, reducing recovery time and the need for multiple surgeries. Combining procedures means you undergo only one anesthetic event and typically make one surgical copay.
